Inadmissible publication.

P3_fractura_Porcelana4

Six or seven years ago, I made this photographic register based in one of my patients, who cracked a crown made out of porcelain from the type “Mirage”, and from my authorship.

By that time, I published it on my old Blog (Blogspot) and subsequently on this very site where it still remains.

Since I started my Blog (August 2000) I’ve specifically expressed that:

“All of the pictures posted here can be used without my consent, only if its use goes directly in benefit of the patient.”

Also “Pointing out where the picture comes from, its a sign of honesty that prestige you and gives reputation to its author.”

During the month of may of this year, I received a commercial magazine from the United States, on which’s inside I found the picture I published here, the one I mentioned on the first paragraph. I came to realize about that just now.

I’m aware that the Internet is a free and open space where, theoretically, no authorization its necessary to use its content. However, I daily receive requests to use the material from my Blog, to which I have always replied in a positive way, understanding that no commercial use its going to be involved with it. A courtesy that I appreciate, although it’s not strictly necessary.

Another thing is that, a commercial magazine, that publishes paid advertisements (I can’t imagine them being free…) profits with material downloaded from the Internet and what’s more, includes it as if it was their own.

By the way, I sent a letter to the e-mail address that came with the magazine – Constanza.riano@plmlatina.com” – to complain about this incident, however I got no answer back, reason why I decided to publish this on my website.

The magazine I’m talking about is called: “Dental Products report”, January-April 2009. The picture aforementioned can be found in page 8, related to the segment entitled “Confesiones de consultorio.”
